Welcome to MARS Disaster Management System
MARS - Mitigation Assessment and Rehabilitation System, is a collection of web based disaster management applications that aim to reduce, or avoid potential losses from hazards, assure prompt and appropriate assistance to victims of disaster, and achieve rapid and effective recovery. There are four phases of disaster managment:
1. Mitigation - reducing risk and minimizing the effects of disaster through policies and programs to mitigate the impact of the disaster.
2. Preparedness - planning how to respond to the disaster which involves training organizational response and positioning of adequate resources for emergency use.
3. Response - an immediate reaction or relief to prevent losses created by the disaster.
4. Recover - the process of repair and restoration for long term recovery.
- Incident Locator - Enables users to locate areas where disaster struck by providing current status related to the incident.
- Missing Person Tracker - Enables users to report and search for a missing person.
- Disaster Victim Recovery - Traces internally displaced people (IDPs), their location and their needs.
- Relief Organization - Lists the organizations working in disaster struck areas along with their activities or responsibilities. Enables relief agencies to coordinate, communicate and organize activities with related the organizations.
- Procurement Center - To fulfill pending requests by linking requests with donars who have pledged to provide help.
- Shelter/Help Camp - Tracks the location, distribution, capacity and breakdown of victims in shelter.
- Inventory Management - Effectively and efficiently manage relief aid, enable transfer of inventory items to different locations and notify when inventory is needed to be repurchased.
- Helping Hands - Database to store information related to individuals or groups who volunteer to help in the disaster sturck areas.
- Messaging Module - Enables users to communicate via email and SMS messaging to different groups.
- Aid Catalog - Stores information on different catalogues and measurement units. These information are being used in systems such as Inventory Management System and Request Management System.
- Synchronization - Enables users to exchange data between instances of DMS through synchronization.
