SEDP
focuses on a number of key areas such as gender, environment,
capacity building etc in all its training programmes.
SEDP
& Gender
Due
to various factors women's representation in the economic
and civic arena of Pakistan has been minimal. Hence
from the onset of the SEDP project efforts have been
made to mainstream a gender perspective into all of
its significant work. It recognises the importance of
women's empowerment in the evolution of a stable administration
and in good governance practices as an essential component
of sustainable development efforts.
Each
of the SEDP's seven key components has developed or
adapted its projects and other activities with this
priority in mind. The programmatic focus has evolved
to match the comprehensive fact that women's equality
and empowerment and a strengthened civil society are
inextricably linked.
SEDP
now follows a long-term strategic approach aimed at
increasing gender training and advocacy, empowerment
of women, boosting the number of women at decision-making
levels, and developing improved organizational mechanisms
and frameworks in the workplace for women through gender
training programs, seminars, and workshops for non-governmental
organizations and community-based organizations and
communities.
SEDP
& ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT
The
project will have minimal impact on the environment.
However, educational management material will address
such issues as the incorporation of environmental analysis
in operational decision-making and such topics of human
resource management as safety, working conditions and
workforce performance and satisfaction. Workshops and
development programs will provide opportunities to integrate
environmental issues as they affect and are affected
by social sector development.
Below
is a list
of cases that have been developed in this tenure and
deal with organizations that work closely with issues
affecting the environment.
