Training for Development

The aim of the Training for Development Programme formerly known as Training of Trainers (TOT) was to develop a cadre of Master Trainers to train NGO/CBO and District Social Service managers. It was spread over one year with its first workshop in June 2002, consisting of 3 modules each of 2 weeks duration. The cost of the entire training programme was sponsored by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Teaching Methodology The training approach was interactive and expert facilitators provided an effective learning environment so that the participants could share their experiences. A range of learning methods such as lectures, discussions, group work, case studies, individual presentations and field research and visits were used.
Use of Technology Technology played an integral part in the TOT programme. A host of on-line services enabled participants to work on assignments, tutorials, and projects and kept them in touch with other course participants and the Faculty.

TOT Symposium

The TOT Symposium was held at LUMS on May 15, 2004. It provided an excellent opportunity to the TOT participants to showcase their writing endeavours; participants also received certificates for successfully completing the programme and their case studies.

Admission Criteria
Eighty individuals from all over Pakistan and from various walks of life were short listed from an original pool of 500 applicants to take part in this programme at LUMS. About half of the selected participants came from non-governmental organizations, 30% came from educational institutions and the rest from private training firms, government institutions, and rural support programmes.
